AI bias is the tendency for a model or dataset to favor certain outcomes, groups, or viewpoints over others. Some bias comes from the training data. Some comes from the way a prompt, ranking system, or evaluation set was built inside AI governance.

The problem is not only fairness in the abstract. Bias can change which sources get selected, which details get repeated, and which edge cases get ignored. A system that overweights one source type may still look confident while giving an incomplete picture in AI answers.

That is why bias work starts with source coverage. If a team only feeds a model one kind of evidence, the output will usually mirror that narrow view. A better setup samples different source types, checks for missing perspectives, and tests whether the model behaves differently on similar inputs.

For example, Ajey might compare two sets of search results for AwesomeShoes Co. One set could overemphasize paid placements and affiliate reviews, while another includes customer feedback, product specs, and return policy. If the model only summarizes the first set, it may sound polished but miss the buyer’s real concern.

Bias reduction is not about making every source equal. It is about making sure important differences are visible and that the final answer does not hide them.

Use balanced evidence when the topic needs balance. Show enough context for the reader to spot missing perspective, and avoid framing that pushes one viewpoint as the only serious option, which improves preferred AI sources.
